Meeting Notes - March 7, 2026
- Gratuity Policy - Gratuity is classified as a bonus and is considered a service charge for tax and legal purposes, not a tip (and therefore does not qualify for tax exemptions on tips). However, at Soupleaf, gratuity is treated as a tip for withholding and tip-out purposes.
- Clarification on paycheck - your gratuity comes under as bonus. Gratuity is not considered “tip” under tax and legal purposes (doesn’t count towards no tax on tip) as it’s considered a service charge.
However, for Soupleaf we treat gratuity as tip in terms of withholdings and tip out.
